With the dance community casting an eye back to the ‘80s last week with the “808 Day” celebrations , there’s been an otherwise wider interest sparked in the decade’s synthtastic musical delights, thanks to the stupendous success of the new Netflix series Stranger Things .
The show has proved itself an instant cult classic, with its ‘80s vibes and narrative inspired by the Spielberg and Stephen King pop-culture hits of yore. If you’ve been digging the retro musical vibes of Stranger Things, you’re in luck: The official soundtrack is here.
Volume 1 is available now on Apple Music and iTunes and spans a total of 36 songs from the series. The show’s striking score actually comes from Texan electronic group S U R V I V E , a duo who’ve been composing haunting synth soundscapes since 2009. Their work on Stranger Things hit the spot so much that the release of the soundtrack was inevitable.
