Back in April, when Truffles Cafe at VanDusen Botanical Garden debuted their Afternoon Tea , the Cafe mentioned the possibility of offering outdoor picnic baskets for picnics at the Garden this summer. That idea is now a reality: Picnics for two have started at VanDusen, officially making one of Vancouver’s most beautiful places even more adorable. (Seriously, what could be more picturesque than enjoying an old-fashioned picnic at VanDusen’s Monet-esque Meadow Garden or surrounded by flowers on the Azalea Path?)
Located inside the VanDusen Visitors Centre, Truffles Cafe’s $58 picnics-for-two include:
- admission for two to VanDusen Botanical Garden (a $21.50 value)
- a sturdy picnic basket with lined picnic blanket to use during your picnic
- two regular-sized sandwiches of your choice
- two small salads of your choice
- two beverages (including coffee, juices or sparkling water)
- a selection of cheese and crackers with grapes
- cookies
- napkins and utensils
Basically everything you need to enjoy a fabulous outdoor lunch before (or after) exploring VanDusen’s magnificent grounds and gardens.
The Truffles Cafe Picnics are packed on a first-come basis and can’t be ordered in advance; you must order them in-person at Truffles. Peak picnic hours are 11:45am – 1:15pm, so plan to get there a little earlier or later to avoid a wait.
Bonus incentive (not that you need one): $2 from every picnic sold will be donated to Karma Exchange , a registered non-profit charity that helps girls in northern Ghana access education.
Picnics at VanDusen Botanical Garden are available now through summer 2012; enjoy them while the weather lets you!
