Life in Seattle || & Grey Day Activities

Days in the Northwest…..

This post has 2 purposes  1.) an update on what I’ve been filling my days with {when not intensly  job searching & house hunting}

2.) Ideas for ways to deal with shorter days, longer nights & the continuing drop in temperatures. Cue the violins now.

(Starting from the top left & moving clockwise)

1.) Farmers Markets – This “flower” is ornamental kale & cabbage .   The plant thrives in cooler temperatures which is awesome because it will last past Fall and into Winter when everything else takes a siesta.  The color pop is warmly welcomed! ::Found at the Sunday morning Ballard Farmers Market::

2.) Make {& Break} Bread – A friend of Jared’s put on a baking class for us this past weekend! We walked away with carb loaded stomachs, a sourdough starter and our own masterpieces of baked bread.  I added garlic olive oil and rosemary to mine and it was delicious. Pair it up with some red wine & chocolate and you have yourself a meal.

3.) Thrifting – The second hand stores in Seattle are straight uh-ma-zing.  I seriously don’t understand why anyone would buy full price clothing when you can find it thrifting for half the price! My winter clothing selection is building slowly but surely.  This photo was taken at Trove , a vintage boutique store in Ballard.

4.) Running – Free exercise (which is awesome because I’m broke ;))  Regardless of the weather, people are out and about here. Rain doesn’t stop anyone and why should it?  I am fortunate enough to be blocks from Greenlake where at anytime of the day, Seattlelites are walking their dogs, strolling with their babies  and running around the 3 mile loop.  The path is paved with trees (leaves still falling!) and keeping close to the water brings me a sense of peace.

5.) Coffee, Coffee, Coffee – As much as I love coffee, the increase in intake is due mostly to the boyfriend’s obsession.  I’m not complaining.  I tag along to his favorite spots { here and here } where he knows the baristas by name and can talk for hours about the espresso being “pulled.”  I’m happy just ordering what he gets (because I know it will always be good) and obsessing over new posts in Kinfolk and photos from Up Knorth.

Anyone else dealing with weather changes? How do you cope? What are your favorite winter activities? Suggestions needed before I go into my next bread coma.
