What if true happiness means being in harmony with nature? Chasing that idea, Pierre-Stephane Dumas built his first tree hut. For comfort’s sake, he enclosed it in a protective bubble. And the BubbleTree was born!
After developing the BubbleTree and experimenting with spheres perched in trees, Dumas designed a range for the ground. The bubbles are completely structureless and are held by inside positive pressure. The bubble is inflated by a silent turbine which keeps it in shape, renews the air and eliminates pollen, humidity and condensation problems. Inside, the air is fresh and filtered and there are no mosquitoes. A spherical structure has an astonishing acoustic effect. Noises outside are muffled and sounds inside bounce back to the center of the sphere so that people instinctively speak more softly.
The bubbles are eco-friendly as well. Every element of the bubble is 100 % recyclable, and the turbines are very economical (55 to 95 watts, the equivalent of a lightbulb!). The bubbles can be energized by electricity – a generator, solar panels or windmills – or by a fuel cell, running with methanol.
The spheres are designed to be set up in a garden or far away from any source of energy and they can be completely self-sufficient.
Dumas designed his bubble to give the occupants the experience of sleeping under the stars in all the comfort of a hotel room. No ceiling but the Milky Way. You can watch the way the light gradually changes from sunset through the night to the first glimmer of dawn.
