Earlier this year, it was revealed that dance culture stalwarts Sasha and John Digweed would be reviving their iconic DJ partnership that helped lift them to stupendous heights during the halcyon early days of UK clubbing in the ‘90s, which saw them release seminal Renaissance and Northern Exposure mixes, as well as hold a legendary residency at Twilo in NYC.
The pair played their first back-to-back DJ set together at the Social festival in Maidstone, England, on Friday night. Bringing the first evening of the festival to a close, the old DJ pals were reportedly in fine form, though both the festival and Digweed himself have offered us the chance to check out for ourselves what it was like with more than an hour of footage posted online.
The reunion was inspired by a surprise back-to-back set at Ministry of Sound in London back in March, with sashaandjohndigweed.com set live shortly after, suggesting a larger-scale reunion might be in the cards. However, there’s no news yet of any further gigs.
