In the UK, a holiday is a vacation. Here it’s a day off. I hope in either case you are having fun today with family and real friends. (The kind you talk to, not the kind you “friend” as a verb.)
For those of us who lean left on the political spectrum, it’s easy to be cynical about soldiers and phrases like “support our troops.” But without lots of soldiers who died for the cause in the past, we would not be so free to travel around without incident on continents that used to be at war. So thanks to them this Memorial Day.
