Are you tired of picking up travel magazines and seeing nothing but gushing stories about spas, expensive hotels, and luxury tours? As Monty Python used to say, “And now for something completely different…”
Go check out the brand spanking new web magazine Perceptive Travel . All feature stories and reviews are written by well-known travel book authors who spend their time doing more than sipping cocktails by the pool. (Though I’ll admit, that sounds pretty good right about now, with winter weather upon us in the northern hemisphere.)
I’m the editor, mostly in the background except for some book reviews. Here’s who and what are kicking this thing off:
“Think Outside the Fence” by Bruce Northam
“Tantric Sex for Dilletantes” by Rolf Potts
“Secret Men’s Monkey Business” by Peter Moore
“Cruising Thailand’s Chao Phraya River with Admiral Zheng He” by Harold Stephens
“Lure of the Cards” by Jen Leo
If it matters to you, these stories take place in Botswana, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Las Vegas (sort of a nation unto itself).
Great stuff coming in March and May from Doug Lansky, Jeff Greenwald, Ayun Halliday, and more. Sign up for the newsletter and you’ll be alerted each time a new issue comes out–with some cool prize giveaways as well. Enjoy!
