DIY Wedding | Bryan + Kelly

“Kelly & Bryan’s Camp Lucy wedding was so gorgeous! They are absolutely crazy about each other and two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. We loved their amazing florals – each bouquet was different and brightly colored. Kelly is so creative, and made the cutest alternative for a sign-in book. She had each of her guests sign their names on a wooden heart and drop it into a shadowbox frame – adorable! We loved their Song of Solomon bible verse chalkboard, her custom lawn games, and her awesome “Thanks Y’all” sign (SO very Texas)! The greatest part of this event was the fact that everyone had such an amazing time.” – The Bird & The Bear, Photography & Film

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

The entire day was more incredible than I could have ever wished for! The love we felt from all of our friends and family members was so moving. My absolute favorite moment was when our photographers stole my husband and me away from the reception to take some night photos outside. I felt so connected to my husband in that moment and had the opportunity to reflect on the day. I also loved surprising our guests with the choreographed father-daughter dance that I performed with my dad!

What did you DIY for your wedding?

First of all, Etsy was my best friend while planning our wedding, and second I was so grateful to my amazing (and crafty) mother, mother-in-law, and bridesmaids for helping all along the way! I made the cake stands, the table numbers, and some signage and other decorations. My mother created some of the chalkboard art, and one of my bridesmaids handcrafted all of the escort cards. My husband also helped me label the mason jars holding favors, make some of the live photo booth props, and make the paper pinwheels we used as backdrops for our cake tables!

Something old, new, borrowed and blue?

Yes – actually a few of each! I borrowed my veil from a friend, and I wore my grandmother’s ring on my right hand, which was both borrowed and old. The lace swatch and necklace that were wrapped around my bouquet belonged to my great-grandmother and grandmother and were old as well. I sported blue shoes and blue earrings, and I wore a small piece of “something blue” inside my dress to follow one of my sorority’s traditions. Pretty much everything else I wore was new!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Wedding planning can be very overwhelming! Organization and regular communication with vendors are key, but I found that what helped most was focusing on the marriage that I was preparing for rather than just the wedding itself. No matter what happens on your wedding day, you will have a loving husband to spend your life with after the day is over! – Kelly, the bride
