Golden Chesapeake Wedding | Kate Ann Photography

Gilded details, shining smiles and a golden setting sun– this wedding day is nothing short of auriferous! Captured by Kate Ann Photography , you can tangibly feel the care put into every frame. The bride, Sophie, shared the story of how she and John met and all we have to say is that mother(s) do know best!

John and I have known each other for a very long time through our moms.  Life took us both to all corners of the world – John in the Peace Corps, me going to grad school, and we never got the chance to date each other until the summer of 2012 (although I had a MAJOR crush on him since I was about 19!) We both had come home for the summer to regroup and our moms had coffee together to complain about how we were annoying them at home – and they set us up!  We started with an evening sail the next weekend and the rest is history!

More from the bride, “I love to garden and recently became very interested in growing roses, so I wanted my wedding flowers to feel like an English garden. With lots of planning and the help of my sister, mother, and 4 girlfriends, we put together all of our own bouquets, centerpieces, aisle decor, and boutonnieres.  My sister and brother in law made the chuppa that we were married under from driftwood collected from the chesapeake by John’s brother, Sam.  Also, John’s mother Ellen recently passed away and we wanted to incorporate her into our wedding day as much as possible.  She had the initials EEE.  We placed an E on each table in memory of Ellen and also as our new last initial!  My mom is an avid cake baker and she made our cutting cake which was decorated with the cake topper from my grandparents 1950s wedding!  John made all of the wooden decor from the podium we used in the ceremony, to the corn hole boards, to frames to hang from the tree and be a photo booth.  And we wrote the entire ceremony with the help of my grandfather, Ted, who was our officiant.  The day was so personal!
