Key West is located in Monroe County and is about 129 miles southwest of Miami, Florida. Key West is an island off the coast of Florida on the North American continent, which is found at the southernmost tip of the Florida Keys. The island is about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide totaling to be about 3,370 acres in area.

Key West is the most traveled to island in the Florida Keys. With it’s crystal clear water, and breathtaking sunsets, it’s an island that must be seen. The climate is tropical, where it is the only frost-free place in Florida. There are two main seasons, hot, wet, and humid from about June through October, and somewhat drier and cooler weather from November through May.

There are many different types of activities and adventures offered on the island. Many people snorkel, scuba dive, or fish! Since Key West is very historical, there are a ton of museums and old houses you can tour and learn more about. The nightlife atmosphere is very easy going and entertaining. There are jazz clubs, bars, gourmet restaurants, and great sunsets locations! Dinner cruises are defiantly recommended when traveling to the Keys!

Personally traveling to the Keys I would strongly encourage people visiting to snorkel to living coral reefs! You can go out on a glass bottom boat, where they provide snorkel gear and take you out to the reef and serve food and beverages. The whole trip takes about two hours and is something that’s worth doing. I have never seen so many vibrantly colored fish in my life! We could not stand vertically on the coral when snorkeling in 5-foot waters, because if we stepped on the coral they would die instantly. It’s amazing to witness what live coral looks like first hand and how the different species under the water interact with us humans.

Whatever you choose to do in the Florida Keys will make a fabulous honeymoon either way! From the beautiful scenery to the historic background of the island it self, there will be plenty of things to do while visiting! When first arriving, I would take some time to just explore the town either by walking, taxi, or by trolley. This experience will open your eyes to a paradise you never would have thought existed!
