After dating for five years, the couple finally got engaged. "We had started talking about getting engaged, and one afternoon he took me to Tiffany's to look at rings. After we left, he said that based on what I wanted, it wasn't the right time financially and he didn't want to compromise on the ring I wanted, so we'd need to put off for a couple years. He proposed a month later during a ski trip in New York with my dream ring! He was so nervous while we were driving there that he drove 80km per hr almost the whole way, which meant it took us forever to get there and it drove me nuts. He had picked up the ring that afternoon and the credit card company called based on his very large purchase. I answered his phone because he was driving and once I told him it was a security call from Mastercard, he nearly slapped the phone out of my hand and told me to 'HANG UP, I'll CALL THEM BACK!!!' Needless to say, he's a horrible liar and after a very long wait at the border since he weirded out the Customs, I wasn't expecting much out of the weekend. We took our dog for a walk and he proposed in this perfect picturesque gazebo all lit up with lights."
Brendan and Brittany were married this past June at Balls Falls Conservation Area in Ontario, Canada. The entire wedding was funded by them, with some DIY help from close family and friends. The groom's mom actually painted a picture of the front of the barn reception venue, which was then used for their wedding invitations, and the bride's mom handled all of the beautiful flowers (Brittany's favorite - hydrangeas). One of Brittany's friends kindly baked all of the pies with fresh flavored whipped cream, while her stepdad's bluegrass band handled the musical entertainment. "Brendan and I spent forever making the playlist for when the band finished playing at the reception," said Brittany. "We went through every song and decided whether it was dinner or dancing music. When we disagreed and one person thought it was dancing and the other didn't, we had to illustrate our point by dancing to it."
I think that it's clear from their wedding photos and the stories that Brittany shared that this couple is really in love and not afraid to have some fun. When asked what they love most about one another, Brendan replied with, "I think it has changed over time, but right now, it's her strength and how much stronger and more confident she makes me. She'll be an incredible mother; I feel sorry for anyone who so much as looks at Brittany's child the wrong way â she's very protective...I'll reiterate, terrifyingly so). And I love her ass." Brittany says, "I agree that it's changed over the years (and my ass is amazing â joking!!!). For me, this past year has been a little tougher than usual and mild mannered, amazingly polite and kind Brendan has fought for me and created a safe and loving home where I can have the space and support to figure it all out. Plus, he still brings me coffee every single morning. It's heaven."
