Best know for their innovation in eyewear, Zeal Optics is pushing the technology boundaries again with a solar powered backpack. The Reliant solar pack will charge all your gadgets while on the move, including Zeal's Transcend GPS snow goggles with head mounted display .
The Reliant solar pack has all the technical features of a backcountry daypack but comes equipped with a lightweight, removable, organic plastic solar panel. The solar panel captures energy from the sun both indoors and outdoors and stores it in a self-contained lithium polymer battery pack. Through a standard USB connection, you can plug in all your devices for charging wherever you may be.
The Reliant backpack includes side compression straps, a waterproof bottom, padded hip belt, mesh side bottle pockets, and hydration compartment. To ensure you are ready for any backcountry adventure, the solar pack comes with a goggle size top compartment as well as storage and gear loops for your ice axe, probe, beacon and skis.
A padded wind and tunnel back system enables you to stay cool and comfortable during times of high activity. Made from 1000 denier ripstop nylon, the Reliant solar pack will protect your gear stowed within its 21 liters of storage space.
The Reliant solar pack will come in two colors (stealth black and rustic) and retail for $199. The solar powered backpack as well as the Transcend GPS snow goggles ($399-$499) will be available for order October 1st.
