With a name that says it all, Unorthodox has been perking up ears with every zany production he’s polished off in recent times. While the North Londoner may have only recently made the switch over into the studio, his work handling the decks since the ‘90s should speak for itself. It turns out he has a natural gift for cranking out grooves, having slipped some of them into the hands of key labels like Suara, Toolroom, Lou Lou Records and more. He’s a few days away from gracing the shelves of Icarus’ Fly Boy imprint next, submitting a pair of upright house bits that move vigorously against the current.
“Lo Fi Dreams” takes the opening honors, leading the release with heaps of spunk and spirit. Powered by elastic drums, the propelling tune is fitted with loopy vocals and whippy synths in a way that’ll make the body start working overtime.
Available August 1 via Fly Boy Records.
