Track of the Day: Motions Makes Heads Spin With Shimmery Cut “Elevate 528”

It’s been roughly two years since Brendan Neal last released under his Motions moniker, save for the free package he put out in 2015. His focus, however, never strayed from the dancefloor, with the Montreal-based artist spending his time building up the dance party collective 00:AM, along with a few close friends. The Solstice Symptoms EP keeps the vibe of his events front-of-mind, using the release as a way to create records to warm the floor for his honored guests.

“Elevate 528” is one of its offerings and has all the right makings to get heads loose and lubricated. His use of slippery melodies and mood-lifting lines provides a dizzying listen, one that will make your head spin while working the dancefloor. It’s much more than a warm-up track than he might make it out to be.

Motions offers up his thoughts on the EP:

I inaugurated Skream’s Of Unsound Mind label in 2014, and I’m really excited to be back after two years. “Elevate 528” and the rest of the tracks on this EP are a return to the dancefloor after a long period of working on and eventually scrapping an album. Through DJing more frequently and acting as a resident for the 00:AM parties in Montreal, I’ve realized I’m most excited by making music to play in my sets and share with people in clubs. These are the first of those tracks: functional, but with a character and feeling that extends beyond the party.
