So, tell us a little bit about Ang Weddings and Events!
Ang Weddings and Events is a boutique event planning company based in New York City. We offer a range of event planning services from month of coordination to full event planning. We work with couples right from the beginning of the process, creating budgets, drawing up time lines, location scouting and vendor referrals. For those that have done most of their wedding planning, but want someone to take over and make sure everything goes smoothly on the wedding day, we start working with couples a month out from the wedding. Depending on your planning needs, we will create a bespoke package to best suit you.

As a New York City based planner, what do you love most about NYC?
I visited NYC for the first time in 2004 and I fell in love. The energy and bustle of the city is infectious. I was single at the time and in this city, I never felt alone. There was always so much to do, interesting people to meet and inspiration everywhere. It is a city where people work hard and play hard. In particular, I loved that NYC was a huge melting pot of people from all over the world. The diversity and tolerance here is something that I really value. When I think about it, almost all my clients have been multi-cultural couples! I was born in Malaysia, attended Raffles Girls’ School in Singapore, achieved a B.A. and M.Eng at Trinity College Cambridge University, and went on to work in London. When I came to NYC, I finally found a place where I felt at home. In 2006 I found a way to move from London to NYC, and I have called Manhattan my home for the last 5+ years.

Where is Ang Weddings and Events located?
We are located in Chelsea. I offer a complimentary consultation for any prospective clients. I often meet clients where is convenient for them, sometimes close to their offices or homes. I know how busy life in NYC can get and I want to make the wedding planning process an easy and enjoyable process.

What do you love most about planning weddings?
After months of planning, I love seeing everything come together the day of the wedding. I get to see the couple’s reaction when they finally see their reception set up, which is priceless. I also love the part where I send the bride down the aisle to get married. I have worked with some wonderful couples and it really touches me when at the end of the night, they {and often their parents} personally thank me before they leave. I consider it an honor to be chosen to be part of their wedding day.

What sets Ang Wedding and Events apart from other planners?
I was previously a Vice President at a global investment bank, managing relationships with some of its largest clients. I bring the same commitment to professionalism and strong work ethic to planning weddings. Having planned my own wedding while working in finance, I fully understand the challenge of juggling a highly demanding career and planning a wedding. I work around my clients’ schedules, meeting them during evenings and weekends – whenever is most convenient for them. I plan and execute events with a focus on attention to detail, effective project management and making sure everything is tasteful and chic. Many people have asked me why I changed careers. I really wanted to do something that I felt was meaningful and impactful to someone’s life. Planning weddings is something that I find very fulfilling. A wedding is a beautiful thing – and to be part of that in my own job is a dream come true.

Tell us something about you that we would never have thought to ask…
I have a diverse background, having lived in four countries over three continents. My passion for traveling and foods of different cultures are elements I like to bring to planning a unique event for my clients. I enjoy helping clients personalize their weddings using their background, culture, careers and things that inspire them. When I am not planning weddings, I love to scuba dive, golf, cook and practice yoga.
