Our first stop on the Bridal Market circuit last week was the Romona Keveza show, which was presented in two parts: The Spring 2012 Lux Evening Wear collection, and the Fall 2012 Couture Bridal Collection… Our Merci New York photographers not only captured the beauty of both lines, but the fabulous buzz behind the scenes. Here’s a peek of some of the evening wear looks being prepared for the runway…
If you saw our tweets from Market, you would have heard me waxing poetic about this beautiful silk organza Tiffany blue dress. Yes, it’s part of the evening collection, but wouldn’t it be beyond fabulous for a fashion forward {and vintage-inspired} bride?
Here, our photographers captured the preparation of this look, from the typical “hurry up and wait” behind the scenes, to hair and makeup, and the final once-over before our Tiffany blue model hit the runway. Le sigh. It remains one of my favorites from all of bridal market.
Here are a few of our favorites from the first part of the presentation, The Spring 2012 Romona Keveza Lux Evening Wear Collection, which began with this fun and flirty pearl white trapeze cocktail dress made of Chantilly lace and silk organza flowers.
Both the Romona Keveza evening wear and bridal collections were inspired by 60s style icon, Brigitte Bardot. From her allure as the ingenue to the “sex kitten” images that made her a sensation, Bardot had that rare combination which made her irresistible to every man.
In keeping with the feel of Paris in the 1960s, the collection featured a soft palette comprised of colors such as ivory, blush, lavender and our favorite, fresh Tiffany blue. These blended with the sensuality of a midnight black, the dramatic contrast of white with black, and the play of light on red to create a look that was sexy, sensual and playful.
The soft floating textures of the collection highlighted Couture ruffles, light and airy feather detailing, delicately beaded embroidered flowers, Point d’Espirit and French organza embroidered in ribbon rosettes… Tres chic!
Be sure to stay tuned for our part 2 recap on Romona Keveza’s Fall 2012 Bridal collection, coming soon!
