In an unusual industry pairing, casual footwear maker Freewaters has teamed up with Therm-a-Rest to create a new line of sandals. Using the traditional Therm-a-Rest closed cell foam for a footbed, the sandal collection not only offers superior comfort, but will also help raise money for clean drinking water projects in Africa.
Based in California, Freewaters designs easy-going casual footwear reflective of a West Coast state of mind. With a company mantra to do good, each pair of Freewaters shoes helps provide clean drinking water to those in need though the company's chosen grassroots water projects around the world.
Therm-a-Rest's proprietary foam formula, used in the Ridge Rest camping pad, offers an unique combination of instant comfort with strong rebound and durability. The signature Therm-a-Rest ridge pattern provides superior grip, even when wet, flexibility, air circulation, and water sipping. Both Freewaters and Cascade Designs have been working independently on water projects in Kenya. Now, a portion of the proceeds from each pair of this new joint sandal collection will support a collaborative water project, with details to be announced in early spring 2013.
