We just love downtown engagement shoots with uber-in love couples like Samantha and Mark. The couple decided to stick with a red, white, and blue theme throughout their shoot. What a cute idea! Check out all the stylish details, shot by Kate Davis Photography .
The college sweethearts, sticking with their fourth of July country theme, had their wedding out in Connecticut surrounded by dear friends and family among navy, cranberry and ivory accents with bits and pieces of burlap. With an equally picturesque reception: Sterling Farms was the reception site and really fit the country feel we were going for,” said Samantha. “We had two tents set up in the back of an old farm house overlooking a golf course: One for the cocktail hour and one main tent.”
“We erred on the side of classic for both shoots because generally that’s how we tend to dress. Pops of color where possible, but nothing too overdone. Our wedding generated that same kind of energy, a classic All-American color palette with hints of personality the whole way through.” said Samantha.
Samantha wore bright shorts in a vibrant flame color from Ann Taylor paired with an ivory cardigan & simply lovely patented bowed flats {love!} in nude both from J.Crew in the first shoot. Then changed into a fun, elegant, navy and white pattered sundress from Tocca with tan Ralph Lauren heels for the second shoot.
Mark effortlessly matched Sam with a light blue button-down shirt & light grey chinos both from Jcrew {for the first look}… He then changed into a sweet light-pink button down by Charles Tyrwhitt with the same grey chinos from earlier for the second look. Aren’t they adorable?!
Posing and having fun around Brooklyn Heights for the engagement shoot was an easy, adorably sentimental, and personal choice for this couple. It is where they came together again after years of being apart and where Mark proposed to Samantha. And lets be honest, the location isn’t hard on the eyes either! With all those gorgeous views of Manhattan and the sweet cobble stoned streets tucked in between beautiful brownstones, it is one ideal backdrop for an engagement shoot.
