New York Magazine kicked off Bridal Market in high style this past Wednesday by gathering the industry’s top talents and over 100 vendors for their renowned Wedding Event. The Metropolitan Pavilion was filled to the brim with brides buzzing from booth to booth, talking all things wedding with famed faces such as Ron Ben Isreal and Mark Ingram, while also uncovering fresh discoveries from the chic, new talent that will grace the pages of the magazine’s Summer issue.
I had the pleasure of covering this not-to-be-missed event for Merci New York readers and am thrilled to share a few favorite finds. Here’s just a peek. Make-up artist Lauren Napier is truly fantastic. I had the pleasure of working with her on a photo shoot last month and she is just tres-talented, sweet and professional. Her gorgeous booth was designed by my fav ladies, Poppies & Posies . A little slice of fashion- and eclectic cake! The bridal gowns displayed around the perimeter of the pavilion were staged courtesy of the city’s finest ateliers. {I just loved the structure of this center gown from Gabriella Bridal Salon }. The above bridesmaid dresses from 57 Grand , and the truly tropical cake hails from the pros over at Cake Alchemy . Of course, if we’re talking cake and NYC, then we can’t forget the ever-so-sweet Betsy from Nine Cakes {who you can, and should, read more about here }. And while I am looking forward to sharing a more expansive feature of her work with readers soon, I can’t help but gush over the gorgeous lines and designs carried by West Village proprietress Lanie at Lovely Bridal Shop . Here’s just a glimpse of a few accessories from her newly-opened boutique… be sure to meander into Lanie’s shop on West 4th Street and stay tuned for more from Merci in the coming weeks! Barb at Hatch Creative Studio drew up yet another genius tablescape for the event; this table was one of the prettiest pairings of rustic and romantic that I have seen {We will be showing more of it in our Spring Tablescape Trend recap tomorrow}. And of course, it goes without saying that the event was filled with fabulous food from Manhattan’s best caterers and restaurants, such as these delish bites on the right from Acquolina Catering .
As you can see, the vendors were as varied as they were fabulous. The New York Magazine Weddings Event was a perfect evening filled with fresh ideas, creative solutions and expert advice. If you missed it, be sure to pick up the Summer 2010 issue of New York weddings {on newstands now}… and if you’re looking for even more coverage, hop on over to event planner Tammy Golson’s blog . Tammy has a penchant for innovative design details – I had a fab time walking the show with her and sharing trend perspectives together.
And last but not least, a special thank you to Jen Huang , the wonderfully talented photographer who was so sweet to share her photographs with Merci New York readers. For more of Jen’s work, please click here .
