Africa is often considered an ultimate honeymoon location! It may take awhile to get there and there are plenty of plane connections, but the scenery is beautiful and the views truly make the trip worthwhile. There are plenty of luxury places in Zambia; however, this trip is amazing if you are willing to do a little bit of hiking and traveling off the beaten path as well.
Remember this location is in the southern hemisphere. This means that summer runs November-March, which is the opposite of our seasons in the Chesapeake area. May through July is usually drier and cooler. If you do not go during the summer months there is still plenty of different things to do besides a day at the beach. One of the biggest expenses will be travel; however, it is highly encouraged to travel around once you are there. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and once you and your new spouse are there, take advantage of the sights around you!
Travel and safety are two big concerns people have when traveling to Africa. The best advice is to research and talk to friends or family who have traveled to make sure you are safe and prepared! Talk to your doctor as well if you have any concerns with immunizations, as these should be addressed months prior to leaving the country!
Overall Africa may be considered a “splurge” when it comes to a honeymoon destination, but for a “once-in-a-lifetime moment” why not make it an “once-in-a-lifetime trip”!
