Fabulous Feather Boa!

Fabulous Feather Boa!

Fabulous Feather Boa!  This beautiful bride is my friend, Erica. And when I saw this picture I knew I had to blog about it. A few posts ago I blogged about feather hair extensions and feather wedding dresses so I'm clearly on a feather kick.

I love the idea of having a feather boa as an alternative to a wedding wrap or shawl .  It is so sexy, sophisticated, and playful. And if you know my friend that describes her perfecty.

This white feather boa was custom made by Luly Yang , a Seattle designer. I believe it is made of ostrich feathers.

What do you think can my friend pull off a feather boa or what?

Colin Cowie’s “Royal” Wedding at The Pierre

Earlier last week, wedding and lifestyle expert extraordinaire Colin Cowie , invited Merci New York to share in his own tres-chic Royal Wedding at New York City’s legendary Pierre Hotel . Even though the Royal Wedding luncheon following this morning’s ceremony is supposed to be “casual and relaxed” {and not even sit down!}, the dinner dance later this evening may be a bit more lush. And of course, we can’t think of anyone better than Colin Cowie to share his predictions on what today’s celebrations will entail…
Colin designed a gorgeous gold-toned tablescape with 24 carat gold champagne flutes , candlelight at each place setting, luscious silk linen, and beautiful florals that incorporated green Antherium, green Fiddlenecks, Vibernum, white Water Lilies and roses. Take a peek…
Colin Cowie’s “Royal” Wedding at The Pierre According to Colin Cowie , this morning’s Royal Wedding signifies a new wedding trend, a “Return to Regal” that Merci New York cannot wait to see come to fruition. Colin predicts a return to formal and traditional décor in weddings that will move us away from the relaxed, ‘DIY’ trend that we have been seeing so much of during the past few years. {I’ll toast to that}!
“I believe you will see a return to custom, hand calligraphed invitations in traditional fonts, some including monograms and even family crests,” Colin told us. “Wedding cakes will also evolve to include more gold and intricate accents, adding rich details to the centerpiece of the reception.”
We love the idea of adding lushness to any celebration {look closely at the tactile fringe Colin added to the tablecloth}, so I asked Colin to share some of his Royal Wedding Table Tips with Merci’s readers:

Colin’s Tips for Creating a Royal Table

  • To create a mirrored centerpiece, simply purchase a piece of mirrored plastic, glue a strip of rich fabric, like velvet in a burgundy or deep emerald green, or anything embroidered, along the edge of the mirror. You’ll have yourself a gorgeous table runner in minutes!
  • You can never use too much gold – incorporate it in your tableware, silverware, glassware – even your tablecloth! It’s the quickest way to bring your table from rural to royal!
  • It’s easy to create the perfect royal napkin – all you need are plain white napkins, and crown or crest iron-on decals from a local crafts store – it only takes a few minutes and will make guests feel extra special.

Looking to add some more royal flair to your New York nuptials? The elegant calligraphy comes courtesy of Ellen Weldon Design {and my goodness, you should have seen the individually designed invitations!}, the red velvet cake is from Cake Alchemy , and Colin worked with Bardin Palomo on the floral design.

Hi Friends,
So most of you who know me know that I’m a huge fan of the royals!
I have been obsessing about the fashion because I truly love all that goes into the gown and ALL the fashions of not only the wedding party but the guests as well.
Just heard that Bruce Oldfield

took himself OUT of the running as the designer of “the” gown…

they are now placing some bets on Jenny Packham.

They are also saying that Catherine will wear the Russian Fringe Tiara previously worn by Queen Mary, the Queen Mother, the Princess Royal and Queen Elizabeth.

I’m kinda hoping she wears Diana’s Wedding Tiara which is from the Spencer side of the family. I really think that William is trying to bring in as much of his mother as possible.

My hopes for the wedding gown designer… Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen….Now that would be a statement!

I heard Kate said.. “I want William to know it’s me when I arrive at the alter. Every bride should look like themselves on their wedding day, just a better version.

Oh and they are also betting that the Queen will wear yellow! Love Yellow!

Royal thoughts…

Garment Bags and unmarked hat boxes have arrived at The Goring Hotel where the future Bride will be staying so exciting!

Oh and don’t be surprised if our favorite bride is labeled the “Dancing Queen” I hear that Kate loves Abba!

Stay tuned and Follow me on twitter ( @mindyweiss) and see where I will be… on the big day

Do you Dare? DIY Wedding Flowers

Do you Dare? DIY Wedding Flowers diy wedding flowersDo you Dare? DIY Wedding Flowers. Flowers are one of the most beautiful and most costly aspects of a wedding. Wedding bouquet prices can be pretty high.

Creating your own DIY wedding flowers, DIY wedding bouquets or DIY wedding centerpieces, takes a lot of work and time. The results can be beautiful or disastrous so I highly recommend you giving this a test run if it is something you are interested in. Having said that DIY wedding flowers can save you a ton of money and can add a very personal touch to your day.  Personally I love them!

In a nutshell, here are some guidelines and resources to help you with your DIY wedding flowers!

Shop wholesale flowers. You can order flowers online but I would recommend going to your local Trader Joes, or outdoor market to hand select the flowers you want.

Buy and assemble your wedding flowers a day or two before you need them. Store the flower bouquets prior to use in a cool clean space.

Remove foliage from flowers, so you are essentially dealing with a flower and its stem.

Group similar flowers and criss cross stems as you add flowers. Here is a great video tutorial that covers all the basics and gives a step by step for how to make a wedding bouquet .

Once you have a grouping of flowers use floral tape to wrap the flower stems. You can pick up floral tape at any craft store or florist.

Trim the stems so they are even, make sure you leave enough room for holding, or to place the bouquet in a vase.

Wrap the stems with ribbon to hide the floral tape. Feel free to be more creative. Here is a post from 100 Layer Cake, DIY bridal bouquets where they use antique hankies to wrap the flower stems. It is pretty darling.

Style me pretty also provides a step by step for DIY wedding flowers that is worth checking out. And if you are looking to add a little wow to your DIY wedding bouquet consider bouquet jewelry .

I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried DIY wedding flowers or is thinking of it.

Do you Dare? DIY Wedding FlowersDIY FlowersThis weekend I walked over to the Fremont market and picked up a $5 bouquet. Add a little floral tape, some ribbon a pin and presto. Not bad for my first go at DIY flowers and for $5. I'm also happy to report almost two days later the flowers are still looking lovely in a vase in our dining room.

Hi Friends,

Just wanted to share a few pictures of a colorful fun pool party where beachballs were one of the main attractions. Sometimes you can fill a backyard with so many things for the kids to do that they become overwhelmed and end-up just finding a ball to throw around. Well there was no way these kids would have a hard time finding some balls…we filled the pool to the max with traditional beachballs. A basket full of towels we  and enough sunscreen to cover all the cute faces at the party. It is always a great idea to invest in hiring a lifeguard for your pool party. When you have 15 to 20 kids in the pool at the same time it could leave you a bit stressed and unable to enjoy the celebration. We made darling baseball hats that read “celebr-8” and attached a cute towel for party favors. I love this b-day cake the Cake Divas designed to go with the festivities. We added some balloon bouquets and a fun time was had by all…all 20 8 year olds I mean :)

Paul Labrecque’s Top 5 Wedding Day Grooming Tips for Your Guy

A very warm welcome back to Merci New York’s resident beauty expert, the fabulous Paul Labrecque . Most Manhattan ladies know Paul as a world-renowned celebrity stylist with three {yes three!} tony salons nestled in New York’s chicest locales… But what they might not know is that Merci New York is lucky to have Paul guest blog as our beauty expert each and every month.
In some of Paul Labrecque’s previous posts, he touched upon great topics: Perfecting the best bridal make-up looks , how to get your bridemaids feeling beautiful , and destination wedding hair and make-up know-how, to name a few. Today, he shifts gears and talks about grooming tips for your soon-to-be better half. {Hey, the ladies can’t have all the fun}. Take it away, Paul!

What we have seen in recent years as growing trend for stylish men in New York is groomsmen following in the bridal party’s footsteps with primping and pampering before their big day—but with a masculine touch. Groomsmen who come to Paul Labrecque want to be completely relaxed and restored—but they also want to look their best from head to toe.

Paul Labrecque’s Top 5 Grooming Tips for Grooms & Groomsmen:

1. Hairstyling: You must look just as fabulous as the bride in the photos. I recommend a groom or groomsman gets his hair cut 1-2 weeks prior to the wedding. This way, he has time to be comfortable with his cut and how best to style it. I have many groom’s come in for a wash and style so it is styled perfectly without a doubt for the pictures. If grooms want to do their own hair, I make sure they take my Daily Finish Matte Pomade. It is best for almost every texture of hair and won’t leave a wet or greasy finish to the hair.

2. Deep Cleansing Facials: With the stress and excitement of the big day, it can take a big toll on our skin. It is best to come in for a series of facials once a month for 4-6 months before the wedding. My team can get you started on a regimen to get your skin clearer and keep it clear for the wedding day. Paul Labrecque’s Top 5 Wedding Day Grooming Tips for Your Guy 3. Indulgent Straight Edge Razor Shaves: For the smoothest face when it comes time for the kiss at the altar, I recommend a professional shave such as my 60 minute Indulgent Shave. It starts with a hot towel steam, straight edge razor foam shave, then a soothing eye mask, relaxing face massage and a rejuvenating facial mask. While your mask is sitting we add a 10-minute lemon-grass scalp massage. This is the ultimate shave experience and the perfect luxury to indulge in with all your groomsmen. Paul Labrecque’s Top 5 Wedding Day Grooming Tips for Your Guy 4. Massage: The entire family is in town, the place card aren’t done, your fiancee is freaking out, your friends want to have all night bashes, you have to take time off work etc etc etc. Being a part of a wedding is stressful, yet exciting and can take a major toll on your body. Take 60 or 90 minutes out of the craziness and treat yourself to deep tissue massage. The relaxation and calm it can bring you and your body is imperative! Take care of yourself, you will thank yourself for it!
Paul Labrecque’s Top 5 Wedding Day Grooming Tips for Your Guy 5. Nail Services: I believe that a man’s hands should look impeccable when walking down the aisle. When she is about to out that ring on your finger, your hands should look ready to wear it! Book a Sport Manicure and let my staff pamper your hands by cutting, trimming, buffing and moisturizing your hands and getting them picture perfect too! A very big hug to Paul Labrecque for always sharing his expert beauty advice with Merci New York’s blog readers. Also tres-special thanks to Trent Bailey Photography , for documenting Paul’s top five tips with flair!

Dishing for Dana! The Broke Ass Bride needs our help

If you don't already know her you should. Dana, better known as the Broke Ass Bride is a wonderful person and a fantastic wedding blogger.

I recently learned that Dana has an autoimmune disease. In her case this means her immune system attacks her eyes. There is no cure and it leads to blindness if left untreated.

Dana is holding an online fundraiser to be able to afford her medical costs and to raise money for the American Autoimmune Related Disease Association to help others.

I'm participating in her online fundraiser. Everyone who makes a dishing for Dana donation of any amount gets access to an awesome compilation of comfort food recipes from other amazing bloggers. There are also lots of other ways to get involved , including submitting dishing for dana recipes.

If you are interested in participating or in reading more check out Dana's story . It is an incredible one filled with optimism and strength.

Dana, thank you for all that you’ve done to inspire others.

A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando

Today we are excited to welcome back Karine Bailly of Ovando , Merci New York’s Resident Floral Experts. Ovando has two tres-chic studios in both the West Village and Upper East Side, and is known to design some of the most stunning arrangements for the city’s fashion and design luminaries.
Last time Karine visited Merci, she shared some Belle Époque bridal shower inspiration with readers. This time, Ovando returns with another wedding-related fete, the engagement dinner.
Often overlooked from a decor perspective, an engagement party is your first opportunity to share your excitement, as well as your personal decor style. In the below story, Karine speaks about using your engagement party venue as design inspiration, as Ovando did at the legendary Lambs Club , below..
A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando Upon setting foot in the Stanford White Room at the legendary Lamb’s Club , the establishment’s storied Broadway past immediately sprung to life: beautifully restored oak walls lined with immense bookcases, an alluring terrace overlooking Manhattan’s famed theatre district, the charming glow of the stately fireplace, and the floor to ceiling windows that finished the room off with indubitable debonair– we were entirely enamored. It was the perfect space for an intimate engagement dinner and we could not wait to bring our floral creations to life!
A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando Inspired by the establishment’s old world charm, we instantly had visions of plush feathers, crisp colors, and, of course, glittered glitterati. And this is exactly what we aimed to recreate with our designs! Because we were working with a long rectangular table, we opted to design an end-to-end sweeping tablescape for all eighteen guests to enjoy.
A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando We paired raised silver urns against opaque square vases to create contrasting heights and succinct color. The plush black ostrich feathers were beautifully distinguished against the lavish bundles of white roses and phalaenopsis orchids.
A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando And no old world glamour tablescape would be complete without a generous scattering of crystals, delicately shimmering against the eager flow of Ovando’s tea light candles.
A Charmed Engagement Dinner at The Lambs Club with Ovando We owe tremendous thanks to Emily Anderson Photography for capturing the evening so handsomely. And yes, it was a truly enchanted evening. Bridal Market Bits | Sarah Jassir Fall 2011

We are back with a bit more of last week’s bridal market coverage, this time from the ever-inventive Sarah Jassir . Previously known as “Sarantina by Sarah Jassir,” the designer abridged her company solely to her namesake this season.
With the streamlined company name came a streamlined aesthetic for Fall 2011. Saturday’s presentation at the Setai focused on designs that were a bit more daring than seasons’ past… Body skimming styles, low backs and innovative fabrics wove a common thread through the runway. The presentation exuded sensuality and seduction, giving fair reason for Sara to entitle the Fall 2011 collection “Desire.”
Bridal Market Bits | Sarah Jassir Fall 2011 The marrying of romantic lace and body skimming silhouettes transforms a traditional fabric into something a bit more sensual and unexpected…
Bridal Market Bits | Sarah Jassir Fall 2011 The low back of the style at left was jaw dropping. At right, Sara Jassir’s interpretation of the most popular bridal market trend: the blush gown.
Bridal Market Bits | Sarah Jassir Fall 2011 At left, a modern sweetheart neckline and silhouette are contrasted by a sweet lace cap sleeve. At right, an unexpected “something blue” by way of a bold bow.
Bridal Market Bits | Sarah Jassir Fall 2011 Modern takes on the short dress – including {a refreshingly!} short yet ethereal dress for the modest and sophisticated bride {at right}.

About the designer, Sara Jassir: Always passionate about fashion, Sara Jassir spent her formative years in her mother’s atelier watching her make exquisite gowns for private clients. Sarah’s destiny as a designer was sealed when she made her first lace skirt at the precocious age of 13. This was to be the start of a life-long love affair with fashion… With an avid desire for fashion, Sarah Jassir intertwines grace, femininity, and bold designs into her bridal gowns.

Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry

A warm welcome back to Amanda Allen, founder of NewlyWish and Merci New York ‘s resident gifting expert.
Last week, we had the pleasure of listening to Amanda speak on part of an intimate panel for the Wedding Salon , which also included two of the most charming and influential experts in the biz, Colin Cowie and Mark Ingram . While Colin spoke about wedding planning, and Mark chatted about wedding fashion, Amanda shared her tips and tricks on developing a wedding registry that suits your city lifestyle and still works for your guests. Today, she’s sharing those tips with you. Take it away, Amanda….
Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry Hello again Merci Readers!

Just last week I had the privilege of taking part in a more intimate setting with two of my favorite people in the industry – Colin Cowie and Mark Ingram – at the Wedding Salon’s Bridal Bootcamp and I thought it would be fun to share with you some details from the event!

About 50 brides attended the session at Mark Ingram’s Atelier and we had a lively discussion about trends we’re seeing and advice for the participants, with the lovely Tatiana Byron serving as moderator. Regarding registry, we talked about a variety of things, including:

Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry Current Registry Trends – Increased Personalization and Moving Beyond the ‘Traditional’
As you’ve all seen, options are opening up for couples to really personalize and do unique things with every part of their wedding, from stationery, to flowers and décor, to dresses. And this idea of personalization is taking hold in registry too. As people are, on average, getting married later in life they have a better-developed sense of their personal styles and how they want to live as a couple and you can see this in the things they put in their registry.

Also many couples are expanding their registries to include things beyond household items, to things like camping equipment or different experience-type gifts, and we’ve seen that not only do people like including these things in their registries, but guests really take to them as well. For example, at NewlyWish we’ve seen that experiences such as cooking classes and dancing lessons are among the first items purchased from registries which, I think, reflects this idea of personalization – when your guests visit your registry and they see you, as a couple, reflected in it, they feel good about the gifts because they know they’re things that you will use and remember.

Now this doesn’t mean that people are moving away from traditional registry gifts, as much as it’s leading to a melding of traditional with the way they live.

Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry Advice for Couples Creating a Wedding Registry
There are two, closely related, things that I think people should have in mind as they start their registry:

First, make a plan – Talk to your partner and really think about what you want and need. Have a look around your home, see what’s missing or needs an upgrade. Think about how you really live your lives and your style as a couple. And then, check out the web and magazines to find the brands and styles you like. Don’t let the store’s buyers make those decisions for you; if you start out in the store, that scanner gun will lead you right down the rabbit hole and by the end you’ll have a ton of stuff in your registry, but you might also include things that are nice but really aren’t what you really need or fit your lifestyle.

Second, keep your guests in mind – Make sure there’s a range of price points and types of items in your registry. And actively manage your registry to keep this range available right up to the end. There’s nothing worse as a guest than visiting a gift list and finding that there are only a couple of things left on the registry and they’re all out of your price range or just not things you want to buy.

Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry The Royal Wedding – Registry Inspiration
Not surprisingly, the Royal Wedding was also touched upon and Colin talked about the rise of formality that we can expect to see as brides look to Kate for inspiration for everything from the gown, cake, groom’s attire and of course the rising popularity of the Royal sapphire ring! The discussion got me thinking about what inspirations couples can take from Kate and Prince William’s plans, and the fact that, for their registry, they’ve decided to create a charity registry that will direct gifts to five causes that are close to their hearts and reflect their experiences, passions and values.

It really got me thinking more about this idea that I mentioned above regarding creating a registry that truly reflects your personal style and how you live your life, and this can extend to charitable giving as well. Some ideas include: adding items to your registry that give some or all of their profits to charity; including items that are made within economic collectives in developing countries; directing some or all of your registry gifts to the charity(ies) of your choice; donating to charity in lieu of favors; or, organizing shower and/or bachelor/ette activities around doing something for your local community.
Advice for Creating a City-Centric {Royally-Inspired} Wedding Registry We’d love to know if this idea of incorporating a charity component into your wedding is something you’re doing or would consider. Please feel free to share your thoughts!

Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection

Bridal market has come to a close, and I’m excited to begin our biannual “bridal market bits” coverage of the latest collections. Of course, I couldn’t imagine starting with anyone other than Monique Lhuillier .
For those of you who have been following Merci New York’s blog and bridal styling business , you are probably well aware of my love for for all things Lhuillier. It’s the highlight of my bridal market. In fact, while the rest of the press quietly waited outside the penthouse of the London Hotel , allowing caffeine to awaken their senses before the 11 AM start, I was giddily jazzed up by an adrenaline high that lasted the whole morning {and may or may not have contributed to a particularly enthusiastic conversation with the designer after the show}.
Anywho, here are a few of my favorite pieces from the Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 bridal collection, as well as my notes and Monique’s inspirations… I hope you enjoy the collection as much as I did.
Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection At left, the “Ballet” dress, a re-embroidered lace lingerie drop waist corset bodice with tulle flounce skirt. It reminded me of a fresh and modern interpretation of the Monique Lhuillier “Swan Lake” gown that seemed to grace every style-minded bride in the late ’00s – but it was wonderfully current in the short and flirty silhouette.
At right, the gorgeous “Catherine” gown from the Platinum collection. Monique mentioned in the presentation that this was her design inspiration if she were asked to design Kate Middleton’s gown. Gorgeous, no?

Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection At left, the “Inez”: Modern, equal parts chic, soft and sleek for a city loft wedding.
At right, the amazing “Pauline” gown, a Chantilly lace gown with Lhuillier’s signature drop waist bodice, but modified with an asymmetrical lace peplum tiered tulle skirt. I adored this reinterpretation of a classic. A perfect mix of structure and softness.

Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection Truly, can it get any more gorgeous than these? At left, the “Candy” dress secretly had me wishing I stuck with a blush Monique Lhuillier for my own wedding {Mara, the lovely owner of Kleinfeld, graciously switched me to ivory when I got cold feet}. This blush embroidered illusion tulle gown just embodies pretty, and as Monique mentioned during the presentation, the color suits almost any skin tone. Jaw dropping.
At right, the “Aphrodite” from the Platinum collection seems practically perfect for any polished and stylish New York City bride.
Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection More amazing texture by way of layered tulle in the “Amber” gown at left {you can’t see the satin belt here, but it’s has a beautiful contrast to the bodice}, and the ever-lush floral embroidered skirt of the silk white crystal embroidered “Orchid” gown at right.
Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection Another Merci {and overall press} favorite, the blush lingerie bodice “Flutter” gown had a full degrade embroidered organza skirt that was confectionery in feel, but not too saccharine sweet. Totally balanced.
At right, the ivory Chantily lace “Legend” gown had a luxe, feathered full skirt that was positively swoon-worthy with gracious doses of drama.

Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection I wish I could share my semi-terrible iPhone images of the gown at left, called “Devotion.” The asymmetrically draped exaggerated drop waist gown remains form fitting until the high thigh on the right, creating a beautiful silhouette that wouldn’t overwhelm more petite brides who still crave full wedding gowns.
At right, the
“Peony” gown is a full and romantic as its namesake bloom.
Bridal Market Bits | Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Collection Monique Lhuillier mentioned that she modified her silhouettes by raising her trumpet skirt gowns for Spring 2012. Two examples are in the “Simplicity” and “Poppy” gowns… Which are your favorites?

Bling it up! Bouquet Jewelry! bouquet jewelry, made u look photography

Bling it up! Bouquet Jewelry! It's all about the sparkle. Make your wedding bouquet glamorous! And add a little bling to your wedding flowers.

And this bling won't break the bank. There are so many options and bouquet accessories to choose from that you won't have trouble finding just the right amount of glam for your taste. Brenda's wedding Blog shares some of the latest bouquet crystals for your wedding flowers.

If you are looking to buy crystal bouquet jewelry , including a bouquet jewelry butterfly (my favorite), you can find it at Weddingish. Or you can also find bouquet accessories of all kinds, including pearls, from Northwest Bridal.

I love sparkly. Put something shiny in front of me and I'm instantly distracted. That could be why I love the glitz of flower bouquet jewelry. There is something reminiscent of old Holywood in this bouquet wedding trend .

Flirty Feathers - Feather Hair Extensions!

Flirty Feathers - Feather Hair Extensions!  feather hair extensions

Flirty Feathers- Feather Hair Extensions! Feather hair extensions are all the rage. Even Steven Tyler has them. And even though I'm not the most daring girl in the world, I honestly can't wait to get one.

Salon feather extensions can be a little pricey so if you are looking to diy here are a few options: Zeezoes on Etsy has all the supplies for salon quality feather hair extensions .  And the post by the ambitious procrastinator has feather hair extension pictures and a great step by step.

Feather beauty is rapidly becomming a wedding trend. One wed, discusses how feather hair extensions are being incorporated into wedding hair extensions .

I love this idea for bridesmaids. Especially as an activity do to with the girls at the bachlorette party. Or how about adding flirty feather hair extensions that include your wedding colors?

The nice thing about hair feather extensions is you can choose a feather that compliments your hair color for a subtle bit of flair. Or go as bold as you dare, feathers come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. And they can be treated like your own hair.

What do you think? Flirty feathers anyone?

A Tisket A Tasket A Picnic Wedding Basket

A Tisket A Tasket A Picnic Wedding Basket

source: Picnic wedding by Rachel Thurston featured on Green Wedding Shoes

A Tisket a Tasket a Picnic Wedding basket. The idea of having a picnic wedding is just fun! The photo above is from a real life picnic wedding reception. This couple provided sheets for their guests to use as picnic blankets. *adorable*  You'll notice the bride is wearing a tea length wedding dress .

There is something magical about a picnic. A mixture of nostalgia, whimsy, and romance. I love the idea of a picnic wedding reception. Friends and family gathered outdoors enjoying a lovely picnic in the park. Why not forgo the traditonal hall in lieu of a lighthearted picnic wedding?

Still, I think a picnic wedding is a little daring. And would probably work best with a small guest list. If you aren't ready to go 'all picnic' why not consider mixing in a little picnic fun.  Consider an outdoor wedding, a picnic wedding theme, or even serving picnic appetizers. Afterall, the spirit of a picnic is contagious and it is a great way to celebrate any occasion.

For example, Design Sponge features a couple who celebrates their one year anniversary with a provencal picnic . *so romantic*

What do  you think of the picnic wedding trend or of any of these real-life picnics?

Style This! Wedding Hair Extensions

Style This! Wedding Hair Extensions  wedding hair extensions

Style This! Wedding hair extensions. Looking to add a little wow to your hair? Hair extensions are an easy way to add volume and get the wedding hairstyle you really want. And they work on all hairtypes.

There are many hair extension options. The long hair extension shop offers a pretty good summary of the choices facing anyone looking for hair extensions.

I highly recommend Jessica Simpson hair extensions . They are reasonably priced and come in a host of colors. And even her synthetic hair extensions can be heated and styled. I'm a fan of her clip in hair extensions.

The trick to beautiful hair extensions is to have a professional place and style them along with your natural hair. This can involve coloring or cutting the hair extensions to make them a natural fit.

And the best part, for clip in hair extensions, once you learn how to place them you can use them again and again. Add a little flower hair accessory and voila picture perfect everytime.

Who has tried or is thinking of trying hair extensions?
