Today’s engagement session comes compliments of the bride, the lovely Katie Klumper. Katie and I chatted about her wedding vision a few months ago, so needless to say, I knew her engagement session would be spectacular before I even opened the files…
Katie and Tim’s brief to their photographer, Jennifer Sosa , was to capture the romance of the city, so they shot in Central Park, The Highline and Meatpacking District. According to Katie, as they started shooting, they ran into multiple couples all shooting in the same locations… Their objective was to do the opposite of everything they were doing, and put a fun spin on their day…
How they met {by Katie & Tim}
If meeting in person isn’t enough, online dating really seals the deal. We always wonder what would have been the third meeting place…
Katie hails from Vancouver, Canada and moved to New York City in two years ago for a big, exciting advertising job {a la Mad Men style}. She fell in love with the city almost immediately, but her burgeoning career left little time for finding Mr. Crowell, um, I mean, Mr. Right.
Tim is originally from New Jersey and has lived in the New York area for many years. In all that time, he has always gravitated towards the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan where he once worked and continues to socialize. A warm, outgoing charmer, he dated frequently but struggled to find the right Katie, um, I mean girl.
But then late one night at his favorite pub, the Gaf, his eyes fell on a tall, beautiful woman with the most dazzling smile he had ever seen. Tim tried in vain to strike up a conversation with her, but she wasn’t paying attention. It didn’t matter, though; he was already falling in love.
A month went by, and Tim still hadn’t forgotten about The Beauty from The Gaf but he also didn’t expect anything to happen between them. Fortunately, fate stepped in to help things along… Tim and Katie soon stumbled upon each other’s profiles on Match.com!
Tim realized immediately that this was the same woman from the Gaf who had rebuffed him. Still, somewhat miffed that this terrific woman hadn’t immediately recognized him as a fellow terrific human being, Tim initially ignored her online advances. So when she asked him, “Do you know any good wine bars in the area?” Tim coyly replied, “Sure, I can send you a list of some great ones.” It may have taken her a little longer to see the potential, but Katie is one persistent lady, and she refused to give up on this tall, dashing man. So when she got his response, she rolled her eyes at her computer screen and shot back, “Or maybe you could take me out to one of them.” {Sometimes a guy has to be hit over the head before he realizes he’s found the woman of his dreams}.
And boy has he ever. And now Tim and Katie are looking forward to marrying the one of their dreams and celebrating with their nearest and dearest, in New York City…
