It’s mid-January — a.k.a. the requisite start of the post-holiday, all-black, layered winter wardrobe season in New York — and I’m already jonsing for some color, so I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to receive this shoot from the ever-amazing Allan Zepeda .
Allan must have been reading my mind when he sent us Christine and Jay’s hip Highline and LIC engagement session. The photography is awesome, but the pops of color? Tres-manifique!
Big pops of neon. A hot red Louboutin heel. Jewel-toned dresses. Electrifying yellow props on city granite backdrops. And {my perennial favorite} small doses of Hermes {in touches of turquoise}.
It’s chic, colorful and features an amazing couple with an awesome love story to boot.
Ok, I can survive another cold day now. How they met: On Labor Day weekend of 2006, Christine made plans to meet two of her girlfriends in Austin, Texas for a fun weekend getaway. It just so happened that Jay’s sister was planning the same trip with her mutual girlfriends too. Since Jay had just moved to Texas for work, Jay’s sister invited him to hang out with the ladies. Jay NEVER hangs out with his sister and her friends, but he did this time! Throughout the weekend, Christine and Jay didn’t have much interaction until the last night when they chatted for a while about random things and went their separate ways.
Two weeks later, Christine received an email from Jay… He asked her advice on where to shop {now we know who’s honed his style!} and asked if he could take her out for a birthday dinner. After some coquettish email banter, she accepted and they started hanging out regularly. Finally, {and surprising to both of them and their friends}, they fell for each other and here they are today…
From the bride: We chose NYC as our engagement spot because Jay is originally from New York, Christine was working in New York and we were going to get married in New York. We just love NYC!
