Anyway, this week's Picks on Paper showcases all kinds of escort cards! I thought it was about time I did another post of the subject, since it seems like I am always coming across new ideas for them, and escort cards are a necessity for most weddings (unless you're having a small wedding or eloping). The purpose of escort cards, in case you didn't already know, is to direct your guests to where they are sitting at your wedding reception. Differing slightly from place cards, which are going to show your guest which seat is theirs, escort cards typically direct your guests to their assigned table at your reception. Once guests get to their assigned table (via their escort cards), it's up to you to decide whether or not you even want to assign them their seats using place cards. Or, you can forgo place cards all together and just let your guests sit wherever they'd like at their assigned table.
Escort cards can be really simple paper cards, if you want, but I think it's a great opportunity to have fun and showcase your personal wedding style or theme! Plus, there are some really great, inexpensive ways to go about it - using fruit, polaroids, donuts and cupcakes, pencils, scrabble pieces, fresh herbs and seed packets; it depends on how much time you have, more than anything! Some will take more time to create than others, but budget really shouldn't be a factor when deciding on fabulous escort cards. ...And if budget isn't as much of a factor, then your options expand even more! Skeleton keys, mason jars, mini champagne bottles...nothing is off limits, really! If you're still stumped for suggestions, I've included a bunch of great escort card ideas below. Be sure to check out the credits below each batch of images for a few links to DIY tutorials, as well!
