I'm actually mixing it up this Monday morning with a real wedding feature, before my regular Bridal Fitness on Paper blog post that I still have scheduled to go up later on today. This intimate wedding welcomed only 40 guests, but serves as proof that a small wedding doesn't have to lack the details that we all know and love most! Photographed by Nicky of Eight20 Photography , Hannah and Mark were married last August at the historical California ranch, Rancho del Diablo Dormido . The name of the venue located in Malibu, California actually means "The Sleeping Devil," and I'm told that as you look out over the mountains that surround the property, one of the mountain tops actually looks like a sleeping devil!
The bride relied heavily on both Etsy and her own craft skills with a few big DIY projects, which included the wedding invitations and programs, wedding favors, seating chart display and menus. Although Hannah dedicated much of her own time traveling back and forth to Michaels before her wedding, she credits her Aunt for the "most amazing DIY element": her bouquet! "Early on in the wedding planning process, I came across these brooch bouquets. I loved their vintage feel and that they were made using items from people that were special to you. I showed a picture of one to my Aunt, and she said, 'I want to make this for you,'" said Hannah. Hannah's handmade bouquet included roses made from the fabric of her Aunt's wedding dress, cufflinks from her grandfather, pins from her mom, pearls from her mother-in-law and even the cork from the bottle of wine that her and her husband-to-be, Mark, shared to celebrate their engagement. Such a neat idea, and something she'll be able to keep forever, and maybe even pass onto her daughter one day :)
Besides Hannah's meaningful bridal bouquet, the wedding featured small arrangements of hydrangeas, lisianthus, freesias, dahlias, roses, tulips, succulents and sea thistle. The outdoor reception was made all-the-more intimate because of the couple's choice to have one long banquet table so that everyone could sit together (I did that, too!), which was Hannah's favorite wedding day detail. Guests enjoyed a meal by Daniel Molnar Private Catering , with music by the fabulous band, the Leftover Cuties .
