Sarah is a huge fan of Disney. Her groom, Paul, gave her the most beautiful custom snow globe in the shape of Cinderella's carriage as a wedding gift! Sarah's choice of a classic lace ball gown and bouquet of pink roses is something out of a fairy tale. Last spring, the couple was married at St. Paul's Church in Bellingham, Washington. The reception, held at Bellingham Golf and Country Club, was decorated with more pink roses, gold sequined and navy blue linens, candles and crystal chandeliers. And their four tier wedding cake is TO DIE, with romantic ruffles and lacey pink roses. To complete the day, Sarah and Paul left their wedding in a decorated carriage. I hope you all had a good weekend! I get back from Hawaii today, but now the real work begins, as we get ready to move to Denver this weekend. We'll start driving out there with our two kitties early Friday morning, and hope to get there by midday Saturday (it's about a 16 hour drive). In anticipation of the madness that will be this week, I have another group of guest bloggers scheduled to pop by over the next few days, and I'll be back in action on Monday.

But right now, I'm especially excited to introduce Natalie as my guest blogger today! Nat and I first connected a couple of months ago via email. As a bride-to-be herself, she reached out to me just to say, "Hi" and we've been internet friends ever since! Not only is she planning her own wedding right now, but she is also in the process of starting a stationery business called Mock Up Designs , which is definitely worth a look! I asked Natalie to write about her experience planning her own day while I'm out of town, and she kindly obliged :) Anyway, I'll let her get to it, because I'm sure that there are many brides out there that can relate to her personal wedding planning challenge at the moment!

When I got engaged in May last year, I found myself in the perhaps enviable position of having been to a large number of weddings... a very large number. At the end of 2011 my total topped 26, including seven last year and six outings as bridesmaid! I am the last of three sisters to get married in the space of just over two years, and one of the last of my close knit group of eight school friends. (If I had a £1 for every time I have been compared to the film 27 Dresses, I would be able to use the money to pay for my wedding!) This means that I have a lot of inspiration to draw upon and have often joked about taking the best of each wedding and amalgamating them into my "Super Wedding!" It does, however, present me with a slight challenge when tackling how to make the wedding my own, and not just a repeat of my friends' and families' fabulous days.

It is important to note at this point, that this is in no way a problem unique to me. I think that all brides, whether they have been to one wedding or a 100, feel strongly about making their wedding day a reflection of who they are as individuals and as a couple. As a bride, I am constantly tempted by the amazing blog features and glossy magazine articles filled with amazing details to add to your day. One of the best pieces of advice that I have been given in my wedding planning days, is to know when to stop! Once you have decided on your look and feel, keep revisiting it to see if that latest great idea you have been eying up retains the feel of the day that you are striving for.

When looking for a wedding venue, marquees and converted barns were often suggested; the only problem being that they were my sisters' venues of choice! In an effort to reflect our taste, and create a wedding day that is different than my sisters', we have chosen a beautiful modern venue, with huge expanses of glass, wood and metal. It has served to theme our whole day and I constantly use it as a reference point when making choices about all of my details. Take dress shopping as an example... I was tempted by a beautiful vintage style wedding dress, and not to sound as if I was picking my dress for my venue, but after a couple of minutes, I realised how out of place this dress would look in my modern venue! Fortunately, I believe I have found the perfect alternative!

My wedding is now just four months away so I'm really starting to get into the details, like designing my invites and deciding on my table settings, whilst looking forward to my upcoming dress fittings. I have used the inspiration boards below to show how me and my sisters have each approached our wedding days to match our individual styles!

MODERN

I am going with a more modern look and feel. With my wedding still to come, I can't divulge too much, but here's a sneak peak :)

CLASSIC

My elder sister had a navy and white color scheme and held her reception in a large white marquee, attached to a gorgeous manor house where their ceremony took place. Her simple classic details brought the place to life.

BONFIRE NIGHT

My younger sister's wedding was held on Guy Fawkes Night, which is a day celebrated here in the UK with bonfires, fireworks and sparklers, and I think you'll agree that it made for a fantastic theme! Especially when coupled with one of the most beautiful barn conversions I have ever seen!

Can I just say how much I LOVE today's wedding details?! The bold coral and aqua color palette, the stationery, the flowers, the chalkboard signs, the Lego-style cake topper... I love it all! Showcasing a gorgeous peach and aqua color palette, this styled shoot is filled with lovely feminine details like lace, roses and milk glass. Designed and photographed by Brandy Maddison Event Planning and Design and Rozalind Ewashina Photography , this romantic shoot features a pretty tablescape and wedding cake for a spring or summer wedding!

"The idea for this shoot blossomed from the colors and textures of the beautiful landscape around Kamloops, BC. The sun kissed yellows resonate with the tall grass that cascade on the mountains and plains throughout the city. The touches of jade blue tones in the shoot echo the tones of the many lakes and rivers that are present in this area. Lace, romance, and white milk glass were the epitome of our theme - rustic elegance with a twist. The bouquets featured blush roses, peach alstroemeria, yellow and white tulips, and were brimming with cream and yellow solidago. The antique furniture pieces juxtaposed with the simple and modern candle pillars and glass vases, created a sophisticated elegance that was meant to enhance the landscape, but not take away from it. The ruffled 3 tiered cake designed by Sweet Spot Cupcakes used a pale yellow ombre that cascaded into a crisp white fondant. Happy Friday! Today, I'm sharing my most recent design, a welcome brochure for the (now) newly married Jerica and Christopher. The couple just got married earlier this month on October 6th in Phoenix, Arizona, and Jerica wanted a brochure that used a similar color palette to the Arizona state flag. I thought it would be tough to pull off at first, but I quickly went for one of my favorite design themes - STRIPES! Jerica loved the concept just as much as I did, and we were quickly off running! Here's how it turned out.

In case you happen to be living under a rock, the new iPhone 5 came out today! Are you excited?! Haha, yeah, me neither. Don't get me wrong; I have an iPhone that I love very much. Plus, I would LOVE to finally have a white one! However, I've never been one to rush out and get one on the day it's released. That thing costs $200! I'll buy a new one when I need one (and when I'm due for an upgrade), you know? Actually, I just shattered the back of my phone when I dropped it a few weeks ago, which wasn't good. I know, I know. Shame on me for not having a case on it. The phone itself still works though, so I figure I'm at least good with it through the rest of the year. I'd rather save up and get an iPad! Those things look awesome, and no, I don't have one yet =(

Anyway, I haven't done one of these in a while! One of what, you ask? An inspiration board! Honestly, a good inspiration board can take a long time! Getting the right photos in the right order and then making sure every image has the proper credit. This week, I'm particularly inspired by cobalt blue. I'm actually working on a welcome brochure design right now using the bright, bold color for a bride's Arizona wedding! It's a surprisingly dramatic color, when you think about it, and one that I think will really make a statement at any wedding.

Happy 4th of July! I thought today, I'd keep it simple and repurpose one of my favorite inspiration boards in red, white and blue. Enjoy the day and celebrate safely, everyone! :)

Well, this wedding took me FOREVER to pull together for today's post for two reasons: 1) The bride, Brittany, is super sweet and honestly, I want to make sure that I do her day justice, and 2) Brittany gave me SO many photos of her beautiful wedding, Captured by Shan Renee , that I had to keep going through to make sure that I hadn't missed any of my favorites! I definitely got the chills a couple of times while arranging these photos - there are some really touching shots of Brittany and her new husband, Micah that made me stop and stare...but I'll get to those a little bit later :)

When Brittany first described hers and Micah's wedding, she said, "...We needed something a little left of center to represent our path to choosing to be together forever. I love a casual, thrown together look and wanted a fun, memorable wedding that represented our tastes. So we chose wildflowers, a variety of milk glass, antique bottles and jars to place them in, and a fun menu of Mexican food for everyone to enjoy." Coordinated by the talented Wedding Warriors , this couple's wedding was the perfect blend of offbeat creativity, style and romance, and it could really help inspire other brides, in my opinion. Here's a wedding that is not only beautiful, but warm and welcoming, rather than elaborately coiffed and sterile. That's why I love this wedding so much!

Brittany and Micah were married at the Lost Mission just outside of San Antonio, Texas, an elegant, Spanish style property filled with arched entryways and amazing light fixtures (chandeliers just doesn't sound like the right word to describe them...) suspended from the ceilings. It's an incredible venue, if you ask me! Their nontraditional wedding color palette was a broad spectrum of green, blue, pink, purple and orange, which was showcased in the array of wildflowers by WOW Factor Design , and placed inside antique glass jars and milk bottles collected by the bride herself. Brittany also handled the fabric letters placed on tables throughout the reception, as well as the banners, cake stands, menu boards and frames used as wedding decor.

Knowing my love and appreciation for pretty paper, Brittany was kind enough to send along her Save the Date card, which she used as inspiration for the wedding colors and styling later on. The design is available on Wedding Paper Divas , and Brittany worked with their designers to change the colors up a bit.

Brittany and Micah became engaged 8 months after meeting while rock climbing. "He was the cute guy with the mohawk (at the time)," said Brittany, and the two continued to climb together regularly, discovering several commonalities along the way. Micah proposed to Brittany while on a white water rafting trip (of all things!) on the Snake River in Idaho, and set their wedding date for 7 months later, just after Brittany graduated and received her Master's in Occupational Therapy (beautiful and smart! ;) The couple now lives together in Austin, as Brittany continues her work in occupational therapy, and Micah, in nursing.

I have a few favorite photographs from this wedding, but the one that totally got me, as in right in the gut and brought tears to my eyes, is about a quarter of the way down, where you see Micah meeting Brittany half way down the aisle to walk her the rest of the way during their wedding ceremony. The photo of them dancing at the reception is also really beautiful, as well as the black and white shot of the two of them snuggling up for a brief second while sitting among their friends and family at their reception. So sweet! I know that my favorite wedding photos from my wedding are the ones where I kind of forget that anyone is watching, and I think that's why I love these particular photos so much, too!

Honestly, there isn't really a wrong way to do a wedding ceremony program. The content will depend on the type of ceremony you're having, of course, but generally, it's a good idea to include the following:

Full names of bride and groom

Wedding date, city and state

Name of officiant

Timeline or basic order of ceremony so your guests may follow along

Members of the wedding party, and their relationship to the bride/groom (if preferred)

A brief "thank you" to both parents and to guests for attending

Honoring of any deceased loved ones (in a poem or prayer, for instance)

Map and directions to the cocktail hour or reception after the ceremony

When you lay out the order of ceremony, you'll want to include any songs, prayers and readings planned, and who will be leading them. You can choose to include the words to the verses and readings if you think that they're particularly relevant and you have the extra space on the program itself. Overall, it's important to make your guests feel like they're a part of the ceremony. Give them whatever information that you think is necessary in order for them to follow along and not get lost. Explain traditions, rituals and anything else that could be foreign to them.

Now comes the fun part! Some of the best ceremony programs I've seen are simple and practical. They tell you what's happening and when, and cut out all of the extra fluff that isn't necessary. One of my favorites to this day is actually pictured below, and it starts out something like this:

7.15.11 - Los Angeles, California
Sarah & Dale are getting married today! (You've probably figured that out by now) Here's how it's going to go:
You will hear songs chosen by Sarah and Dale. Okay, probably more by Sarah, but nonetheless, it's good music.
First will come our officiant, the lovely James Earl Jones (you can call him Jim)

Next, Dale will walk his mom, Kathy, and Sarah's mom, Linda, to their seats. Dale's dad, Dale, will follow immediately after the moms are seated.

Right around when the next song starts, you'll see the charming wedding party...

...You get the picture. Keeping it light and easy is a great idea, but it also depends on the type of ceremony you're having. This particular program was for a beach wedding in Mexico, so it was pretty fitting for the occasion.

Some other creative ideas include:

Using fans as ceremony programs is extremely popular right now for outdoor weddings. With these types of programs, less is better, so limit your content to the basics - wedding date, location, names and a "Thank you!"

Want to make your ceremony programs a DIY project? A ceremony program booklet tied together with a cute colored ribbon is an easy choice!

Accordian-style folded programs are a bit easier than a booklet with seperate pages, and still gives you the space to include all of the information that you need to, on the front and back pages.

If you want to skip printing individual programs, you can also create a display near the entrance to your ceremony that offers guests a rundown of the ceremony. This works well if you don't have a lot of readings and prayers for guests to follow in your ceremony. Use chalkboards, glass windows, mirrors...I even found one that had the ceremony info printed onto handkerchiefs, which were pinned on a clothes line! Cute, right?

Make it fun! If you've been to more than a few weddings, you know that more often than not, the ceremony doesn't start on time and you end up waiting around a bit. Include a fun little crossword puzzle or wordsearch with facts about you and your husband on the back of your ceremony program for your guests to work on while they wait. Just remember to supply pencils!

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I couldn't resist taking the opportunity to whip out a festive inspiration board for the occasion. Did you know that originally, Memorial Day was called, "Decoration Day?" In a non-wedding decor kind of way, of course. As we all (should) know, Memorial Day exists in order to honor those who have died in our nation's service.

I thought that this quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. was a nice one for today...

"We will not build a peaceful world by following a negative path. It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it. We must concentrate not merely on the negative expulsion of war but on the positive affirmation of peace. We must see that peace represents a sweeter music, a cosmic melody, that is far superior to the discords of war. Somehow, we must transform the dynamics of the world power struggle from the negative nuclear arms race, which no one can win, to a positive contest to harness humanity's creative genius for the purpose of making peace and prosperity a reality for all the nations of the world. In short, we must shift the arms race into a peace race. If we have a will - and determination - to mount such a peace offensive, we will unlock hitherto tightly sealed doors of hope and transform our imminent cosmic elegy into a psalm of creative fulfillment."
