It’s always a joy getting to post the work of a photographer who hasn’t been on Bayside Bride before! Addie of Addie Eshelman Photography came down for a visit to Annapolis where she met with Kim and Dave for their waterfront engagement session. We’re swooning over Kim’s nautical summer frock and the tender moments she shared with her soon to be groom. Hand holdings, giggles and alleyway cuddles galore!
This post is the eighth and final of 8 amazing felt flower tutorials that I’m sharing this week — culminating in a gorgeous felt wedding bouquet!!! These projects aren’t for the faint of DIY heart, although I break these flowers down step by step to make them as simple as possible – they will take some time and creativity. The energy spent will be well worth it in the end – trust me. Flowers that don’t die are awesome!
In talking about handmade flowers – we are singing the praises of felt. Unlike paper, felt flowers are thick, sturdy and can withstand all that your wedding day could throw at them. Paper can rip and crumple in a flash – but not felt! There is something so old-school crafty about felt… and I love it. So without further ado, here is our eighth felt flower – the adorable billy balls.
SUPPLIES:
This flower is ridiculously simple… because you just buy the felt pom poms!
All you have to do is cut a little “x” in the felt pom pom, add a little hot glue to the hole and insert your floral wire! That’s all there is too it!
These simple, darling little buds are such a huge trend in wedding floral design… and these felt ones can literally pass as the real thing!

So without further ado, here is our seventh felt flower – the beautiful ranunculus.
SUPPLIES:
Below is a chart of all the felt clippings you’ll need to make for the ranunculus flower. Starting with squares… cut 32 circles that very gradually get larger. I’m not sharing a specific size because the size is up to you! If you cut large circles you’ll get a large flower – and vice versa.
Start by making your flower center. Cut a slit in the center of a circle petal, slide onto the floral wire, add some hot glue and squeeze all the corners together… forming the perfect flower center.
This flower is super easy to make… just simply keep adding circle petal after circle petal – working evenly around the flower until you are happy with the size.
Just like you made the center, now you can finish the flower off by adding the green leaf to the bottom.
That’s it! Lots of circles to cut but overall super simple!
Here’s a little added bonus: how to make ranunculus flower buds!
Each flower will need two of these rounded plus signs – one petal and one leaf. Colors here: rose, mulberry and fern.
Cut a slit in the middle of your plus sign petal, slide onto your floral wire, add a little hot glue to one petal leaf and press together with the leaf opposite, at the top only – keeping air within the bottom area. Then add glue to the tip of one of the other petals, and press to the top of the already glued petals. Finally do the same with the fourth petal… and repeat all steps with the leaf petal. Making a sweet little ranunculus bud!
These are the perfect touch to take a wedding bouquet or arrangement to the next level!

SUPPLIES:
Below is a chart of how to cut your different eucalyptus leaves… there’s not much to it. Start with squares or rectangles and cut these shapes below. The size and amount of leaves you choose for each stem is totally up to you.
Add each leaf to your floral wire using hot glue… add as many leaves as you’d like. Using this thin silver wire makes it easy to manipulate each leaf and easy to add to bouquets or flower arrangements.

So without further ado, here is our fourth felt flower – the romantic cabbage rose.
SUPPLIES:
Below is a chart of all the felt petals you will need to cut. Start by cutting out square/rectangles that get slightly larger as you go, then cut each one into a tear drop shape.
Start by creating the center of the cabbage rose. Cut a slit in the middle of your center petal, slip onto the floral wire, add hot glue and press all edges inward to create the gently folded center.
Now onto the ruffled center. Fold the long rectangles accordion style and glue all the edges together on one side. Do this for all three pieces.
Now, glue all three accordion style pieces together to form a circle with a hole in the middle. Give the circle a good squeeze to smoosh all the petals together.
Glue your flower center stem right in the middle of the accordion circle petals.
Now onto the outer petals. Working evenly around the flower, hot glue each felt petal onto the flower center. Did you happen to read our tutorial on how to make a peony ? Remember the “pinch” technique? The last 6 petals here should all be slightly pinched while gluing to add movement and dimension.
To finish your flower, cut a slit in the center of your leaf petal and glue onto the base.
The cabbage rose is currently my favorite flower… and I just love how this felt version turned out! It looks so complicated but it really isn’t ;)
