Blue and Sage Wedding at the Columbia Winery

Blue and Sage Wedding at the Columbia Winery

Inspired by the beauty of Seattle, Amy and Weston invited their family and friends to celebrate their love at the Columbia Winery . The sage green and blue color palette designed by Holly Kate & Co made for elegant accents throughout the venue, from golden hour ceremony to dinner and dancing the night away. Laurel McConnell Photography brilliantly captured the couple’s utter bliss on their wedding day. We guarantee you’ll smile looking at these images!

The Couple:

Amy and Weston

The Wedding:

Columbia Winery , Woodinville, Winery

The Inspiration:

Neither of us are Seattle natives so we had a lot of out of town guests. We really wanted to show all our family and friends what we love about Seattle and give them a taste for the life we live out here. For the venue, we picked a winery in Woodinville that felt perfectly us and Seattle. For food, we picked a caterer that specializes in local organic inspired dishes. The flowers were also local and seasonal as well.

The Moments:

My favorite moment of the wedding was towards the end of the night when the band started playing Shout! I looked around me and realized I was surrounded by all my favorite people smiling and having a blast. Weston and I exchanged a smile at that moment and I knew he was thinking the same thing.

If you love modern minimalist wedding inspiration as much as we do, then you’ll adore this industrial Reading Art Works wedding! When choosing their wedding’s décor, Jen and Dan decided to keep their style clean and modern with splashes of copper, tons of greenery, and plenty of interesting architectural shapes. Since Dan is a graphic designer, he DIYed the entire stationary suite and even handcrafted all of the wooden signs and table runners seen around the venue! Photographer Marisa Albrecht captured this modern Pennsylvania wedding’s amazing natural light and spirit.

The most important aspect of wedding planning was making sure the wedding felt really unique to us and our personal style and interests. We really wanted to put our own touches onto everything and make it feel more like a casual party with great music and food, while including all the people we love.

We chose our venue because we really wanted a blank slate that we could use for both the ceremony and reception. We were looking for an industrial space with big windows and lots of natural light. It was in Pennsylvania, where we both grew up. It was the perfect space for us!

Dan designed all of the paper items (invitations, menus/name cards, seating chart, table numbers, signs) and made wooden signs, table runners, etc. that really pulled everything together with the look of the venue. There were also numerous cans of copper spray paint used throughout planning!

My insanely talented bridesmaid and florist Lindsay went into my brain and made it come to life better than we could have ever imagined, with lots of ferns, white flowers and cacti. She also made an amazing circle backdrop behind us for the ceremony, which was one of our favorite things.

My uncle officiated our ceremony which was really amazing. We all sat down and wrote the ceremony a couple weeks before and kept it short and sweet. My sister in law and Dan‘s best friend also read readings that we both chose. We lit a unity candle and had our Mom’s come up and light the first candles, which we loved.

Working with our photographers Marisa and her husband Eric was so awesome! Since we met in Brooklyn one day for brunch and then shooting our engagement photos in Lancaster, we have become friends. They are some of the most genuine and sweet people and make you feel 100% relaxed on your wedding day. Shooting the first look on a parking garage roof and then driving around to a park to take photos with just them is one of our best memories from the day.

Our advice: Let go of any traditions that don’t apply to you personally or feelings you have about what a wedding should be. Once we focused on trying to make it feel more like a big party more than a wedding, things came easier for us! Also DIY some things together if you can because it’s fun! And let people help you! We couldn’t have done it without help from our friends and family.

We have a similar aesthetic when it comes to decorating our apartment, so planning a wedding was the same! We both really like copper accents, so we decided early on that would be the only real “color” surrounded by lots of white and greenery all over.

We both really loved our first dance. It was the moment when everything was sort of calming down and we could really focus on each other and relax & all the nerves washed away.

We chose our wedding vibe off of our personalities. We both were born and raised in the PNW so we wanted to embrace that and chose an outdoor venue surrounded by evergreen trees and views of the hills and mountains we grew up by. I even designed my own dress to match my personality. The whole day just felt like “us.”

I had my grandpa drive me in his classic car up to the aisle and then had my dad open the door and walk me down the aisle. Also the groom didn’t see me that whole day until I walked down the aisle, so that moment was super special.

Our photographers were to die for. Sweetest people to work with and beyond creative. They went above and beyond finding hidden locations to take pictures! They captured our day perfectly and now we get to keep these captured memories for the rest of our lives to look back on and relive that day over and over again.

Our advice: start early and keep good communication with your vendors. Unfortunately friends and family are going to be upset about someone one way or another. So do what your heart tells you and don’t worry about others.
