These Tuesday delight “I, Do’s” have us just smitten. With their furry friends next to them at the alter, a smores bar and their closest guests, this couple tied the knot just the way they wanted to. This intimate DIY backyard wedding felt just right for Cortney and Craig who wanted a vintage yet smaller feel for their big day. Spoiler alert: Cortney’s dress is vintage from 1962 and she only paid $600 including alterations. Now onto the photos captured by Dawn Kelly Photography …
How the couple met….
Cortney and Craig met at the restaurant where she works as a waitress.
(She’s finishing up nursing school now.) He saw her when he came in, then when he returned he asked to be seated in her section. He asked her out and she went and they’ve pretty much been inseparable since.
Within weeks they knew they were meant to be together, and when they met each other’s families and saw how similar they are, they knew they’d have a long and happy marriage. He proposed in Yosemite. They’d gone for the day and she didn’t know he’d picked up the ring they’d picked out together in SF a few weeks before. He asked a stranger to take their photo and Cortney told him to stop embarrassing her and stop fidgeting. Haha… When he got down on one knee she started sobbing and couldn’t talk, and snot was running from her nose, which we all laugh about because Cortney used to model professionally, so you can imagine this really gorgeous girl all snotty.
From the Photographer…
The couple chose to get married at their house and only had about 40 guests.
They had no bridal party, but included their dogs instead! Craig landscaped the entire yard and built the bar from the ground up. They also set everything up themselves and a friend did their flowers. The only vendors they paid were us (photos) and the caterer, Blodgett Catering. The food was SO GOOD! For desserts they had root beer floats and s’mores. They kept the wedding very vintage.
