The release of the Aphex Twin album Syro in 2014 had dance fans asking if he was the “most important electronic artist of all time.” It also marked his return to music after more than a decade of absence. However, it appears his producer’s creative gears are still moving, with the news that he has a new EP titled Cheetah on the horizon. Always the enigma, though, he made the announcement via an unusual advertisement that mimics a retro magazine spread.
“The Aphex Twin CheetahEP uses digital sound generation techniques combined with wave sequencing technology to bring you sounds with movement and depth rarely found on records today,” the advertisement reads, modeled on print ads from the early days of electronic music. “To assure that your CheetahEP will give you many years of enjoyment, please be sure to read the owner’s manual carefully before attempting to operate the CheetahEP.”
The ad was shared with the world via the Twitter account of UK vinyl specialists Norman Records , quickly going viral as fans leapt on the news.
Hang tight for further news from Aphex Twin’s revered Warp Records label.
