Smoke Bomb Sunset Engagement: Marcella & Paco in Davie

Creative, artsy Marcella and Paco wanted to capture their love and their little family of four, that includes Frenchies Lola and Watson, all outdoors in that magic afternoon light. Amanda of Lovely Bee Photography stepped up to do just that, and a sunset smoke bomb engagement session at Robbins Park in Davie was just the ticket to showing off their fun, quirky and stylish personalities.

Marcella and Paco met at the ad agency they work at together. Although both swore they'd never date someone from work, they clicked instantly and their friendship quickly grew to a relationship. They aren't beach people, but wanted have their session outside and in the perfect afternoon light. Amanda suggested Robbins Park in Davie, and also introduced the smoke bomb idea as a perfect touch for their artsy personalities. Says Marcella, "We liked the originality aspect of it and thought it would be fun to try out. We had so much fun taking the pictures and are very happy with the results!"

Paco says he had 3 very romantic proposal ideas planned, but that ring was burning a hole in his pocket and he just couldn't wait. Instead, says Marcella, "He RANDOMLY decided to pop the question one night in November while we were walking the dogs, which is a nightly ritual of ours that we all love (including our pups Watson and Lola!), so he knew I wouldn't expect it at all. He went for the element of surprise. The old 'my hands are tied, can you reach in my pocket for the keys' routine."

It still happened under the moonlight (which has to count for something!)... and the dogs (aka our children) were there running circles around us... and we were all sweaty and gross from the long walk... and I dropped the ring because I was so caught off guard, so yeah, it was definitely not like the typical movie scene proposal; but I loved every single moment of it - I was truly happy, it was totally us, and I loved that he caught me off guard.

Paco had Marcella's engagement ring custom designed, and it's g o r g e o u s .

The two are planning their wedding day for next February at the Walton House in Homestead, a beautiful animal sanctuary with a garden they adore. Marcella tells us that it's been tough, but they are excited about how the details are coming together: "There's moments when we think eloping might just be a simple way to go since planning a wedding is no easy feat, but in the end we know it will all be worth it!"
